IDTA

INTERNATIONAL DANCE TEACHERS ASSOCIATION

Dance Innovation Team follows recognised International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) frameworks to support structured and consistent training. The IDTA syllabus provides clear progression, technical benchmarks, and internationally recognised standards set by the England and Wales government office of OFCAL, across Ballroom and Latin dance.

Through syllabus-based training and examinations, dancers gain measurable development, recognised achievement, and a disciplined foundation that supports both performance and competitive excellence.

Graded Structure

The IDTA Graded Structure provides clear benchmarks for development, and each grade introduces new figures, ensuring that students over time are exposed to a wide variety of combinations.

Solo and Couple

Routines are all eligible to be used for solo and couple, meaning students can develop individual technical skills, and also easily transition to dancing with a partner without learning new routines.

Graded Certificates

Students receive graded certificates at the completion of an exam giving strong encouraegment to students as well as validating their development as a dancer.

Scholarship Applications

Many students use their IDTA certificates as part of their application for private school scholarships for schools which require extracurricular achievements.

Ballroom Dance

Ballroom dancing is a refined and elegant style that includes Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, and Quickstep. Our Ballroom programs emphasise posture, partnership skills, precision, and musical interpretation, forming a strong technical base for competitive success.

We provide comprehensive DanceSport training across Ballroom, Latin, and New Vogue, supporting technical development, performance quality, and competitive pathways at every stage.

DIT Graded Classes

Our IDTA graded classes form the foundation of structured DanceSport training. Students progress through a clear syllabus-based pathway covering Ballroom, Latin, and New Vogue, with a focus on fundamental technique, posture, musicality, coordination, and age-appropriate routines. Classes combine technical exercises, step development, and guided practice to support steady, measurable progression.

Competition Conditioning Classes

Designed to support competitive dancers, this class focuses on physical preparation and performance readiness. Sessions include structured warm-ups, strength and stamina training, flexibility, coordination drills, and routine practice with music. Emphasis is placed on endurance, control, and consistency to support high-level training and competition demands.

Private Classes

Private classes provide personalised, one-to-one or small-group coaching tailored to each dancer’s individual goals. Lessons focus on detailed technical correction, routine refinement, musical interpretation, and targeted development areas. This format allows for customised pacing, supporting accelerated progress across competition and performance pathways.

Our structured class pathways support dancers at every stage, providing clear progression from beginner foundations through to advanced and personalised training.

Elite Competition Development

Structured training for dancers aiming to compete in Ballroom, Latin, and New Vogue. This pathway focuses on technique, musicality, discipline, athletic ability, and competition etiquette, supporting dancers from early events through to higher-level championships with events both interstate and international, including prestigious championships: UK Blackpool Dance Festival, Shenzhen World Cup, and more.

Stage and Performance

Designed for performing and building confidence on stage. This pathway develops presentation, musical expression, teamwork, and stagecraft through structured rehearsals and performance opportunities. Events include local performances such as the Whitehorse Spring Festival, ABAW Manningham Festival, or international performances such as the 2025 Beijing Children's Spring Festival Gala broadcasted on Chinese CCTV.

Accredited Examinations

An internationally recognised IDTA syllabus-based program focused on technical precision, musical accuracy, and consistent progression. Dancers are supported through a structured system of graded examinations that provide clear benchmarks, recognised qualifications, and formal assessment standards. This pathway offers dancers a transparent framework to track progress for long-term advancement in Ballroom, Latin and New Vogue.

Professional Instructor Pathway

A development pathway for dancers interested in teaching and leadership. Participants refine technical knowledge, communication skills, and methodology while gaining experience within a teaching environment, with accreditation and adjudication opportunities under assocations International Dance Teachers Assocation (IDTA), DanceSport Australia (DSA), World Dance Council (WDC), Dance Organisation (WDO), and World DanceSport Federation (WDSF).

Talent Agency Pathway

Through training, performance, and media preparation, eligible students may access opportunities across commercial, creative, and entertainment industries. These opportunities include modelling, video shoots, and screen work for brands and productions. Opportunities may include projects associated with brands and platforms such as Nike, Target, Netflix, and other international productions, subject to external casting and agency selection.

Creative Pathway

Through the industry exposure developed at DIT, students may explore broader creative and leadership roles within the performing arts and media industries. This pathway supports dancers interested in areas such as media production, choreography support, creative direction, photography, videography, content creation, and arts leadership. By leveraging DIT’s industry connections, students are equipped to contribute creatively both on and off the stage.
